Jakarta, ThedailyID — Kuwait and Oman have strongly condemned Iran’s attacks targeting vessels in the Strait of Hormuz and military facilities in Gulf countries, warning that the strikes threaten regional stability.
In a statement on Sunday, July 12, Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry described Iran’s actions as a “heinous attack” that endangered civilians across the Gulf.
“The continuation of these attacks represents a highly dangerous escalation that will deepen regional tensions and instability, threaten peace and security, and undermine diplomatic efforts to resolve the crisis peacefully,” the ministry said.
Kuwait added that it reserves the right to take all necessary measures to protect its security and sovereignty in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.
Oman also condemned the attacks after drones targeted locations in Musandam Province, a mountainous region overlooking the Strait of Hormuz and bordering the United Arab Emirates.
The Omani government said it is taking all necessary steps to safeguard national security and protect its citizens following the incident.
Earlier, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for launching what it described as a “heavy and sudden” attack on logistics facilities and refueling platforms used by U.S. aircraft carriers at the Port of Duqm in Oman’s Al Wusta Province.
Iran also launched attacks against locations in Qatar, Bahrain, and Kuwait on Sunday. Tehran accused several Gulf states of assisting the United States during the conflict.
At the same time, Iranian officials insisted their operations did not target civilians or civilian infrastructure. They said the military would only strike sources involved in attacks against Iran.
Iran also warned that any vessel attempting to pass through the Strait of Hormuz without coordinating with Iranian authorities would be considered in violation of existing agreements.
