Jakarta, ThedailyID — Police arrested two men for allegedly stealing electrical cables worth more than Rp143 million from the Power House facility at Pollux Cikarang in Bekasi Regency, West Java.
South Cikarang Police Criminal Investigation Unit chief First Inspector Luhut B said security guards caught the suspects, identified as N and S, at around 2 a.m. on July 9 inside the Power House area.
A technician uncovered the theft during a routine inspection of the building’s electrical system. After hearing suspicious noises, the technician found several cut cables lying on top of an electrical panel.
The technician alerted security personnel, who immediately searched the area. During the search, they found a ladder near the wall separating the shopping mall from a nearby gas station.
Investigators believe the suspects entered the building through a cooling vent connected to the generator room. Security guards then sealed every exit and continued searching the facility.
The guards found both suspects carrying cut cables and several tools. They later handed the pair over to the South Cikarang Police.
Police seized about 40 meters of cut FRC cable and another 200 meters of damaged cable. Officers also confiscated pliers, a size-10 wrench, a utility knife, screwdrivers, and a voltage tester.
Building management estimated the financial loss at Rp143.76 million.
Police continue investigating each suspect’s role, the method they used, and whether other people took part in the theft.
