Jakarta, ThedailyID — Toy Story 5 continues its strong box office run after premiering on June 19, 2026. The animated film has now earned US$779.3 million worldwide.
According to Box Office Mojo, the film collected US$381.3 million in North America and another US$398 million from international markets as of July 10.
Variety reported on July 9 that Toy Story 5 is likely to surpass US$800 million globally. It could also cross the US$1 billion mark and overtake Toy Story 4, which earned US$1.07 billion in 2019.
If it reaches that milestone, the US$250 million production will become the highest-grossing film in the franchise.
The original Toy Story earned US$373.5 million worldwide in 1995. Toy Story 2 followed with US$497.3 million in 1999, while Toy Story 3 grossed US$1.06 billion in 2010. Those figures are not adjusted for inflation.
Toy Story 5 currently ranks as Hollywood’s third-highest-grossing release of 2026. It trails The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, which earned US$1.009 billion, and the Michael Jackson biopic Michael, which has grossed US$991 million.
However, Variety expects Toy Story 5 to overtake both films because their theatrical runs are largely complete.
Andrew Stanton, one of the original creators of Toy Story, directed the fifth installment. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Kenna Harris.
Pixar began developing the project in February 2023. The film marks Harris’ first feature screenplay after years as a Pixar story artist, executive producer, and senior creative team member.
Tom Hanks, Tim Allen, and Joan Cusack returned to voice their iconic characters. The cast also features Tony Hale, Wallace Shawn, Blake Clark, Jeff Bergman, Anna Vocino, Scarlett Spears, and Keanu Reeves.
Meanwhile, Greeta Lee voices Lilypad, Conan O’Brien plays Smarty Pants, Shelby Rabara voices Snappy, and Craig Robinson portrays Atlas.
The film also includes guest appearances from Mykal-Michelle Harris as Blaze Manoukian and Bad Bunny as Pizza with Sunglasses.
Randy Newman returned to compose the score. Meanwhile, Taylor Swift contributed the film’s only original soundtrack song, I Knew It, I Knew You.
