Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) closed the first trading session on Thursday, July 2, up 97.05 points, or 1.7%, to 5,792, supported by broad-based gains across the market.
The index opened at 5,709 before fluctuating throughout the morning session. It touched an intraday low of 5,704 and reached a high of 5,806.
Market breadth remained positive, with 438 stocks advancing, 172 declining, and 166 ending unchanged. Total market capitalization stood at Rp10,170.99 trillion.
Trading activity was also robust. A total of 13.08 billion shares changed hands, generating Rp6.49 trillion in transaction value across 925,909 trades during the first session.
Despite the market rally, foreign investors remained net sellers. They recorded a net sell of Rp1.04 trillion across all markets. In the regular market, foreign investors posted net sales of Rp1.21 trillion, while the negotiated and cash markets registered net buying of Rp162.55 billion.
Domestic investors continued to dominate trading activity. They accounted for 78.05% of the 18.8 billion shares traded, equivalent to around 14.7 billion shares. Meanwhile, foreign investors contributed 21.95%, or approximately 4 billion shares.
Based on total transaction value of Rp10.3 trillion, foreign investors recorded Rp3.3 trillion in purchases and Rp3.9 trillion in sales. Domestic investors posted Rp6.9 trillion in purchases and Rp6.4 trillion in sales.
Trading frequency reached 1,566,876 transactions. Domestic investors contributed 80.09%, or roughly 1.3 million transactions, while foreign investors accounted for the remaining 19.91%, equivalent to 247,497 transactions.
The stronger midday performance reflects broad buying interest across the market, although persistent foreign selling indicates investors remain cautious about broader market conditions.
