Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian authorities deployed 3,761 joint security personnel to safeguard demonstrations held by several groups across Central Jakarta on Monday, June 22.
According to police, members of the Indonesian Islamic Student Movement (PB PMII) and other groups staged a protest near Monas. Meanwhile, the National Coalition for Agrarian Reform (DPN KNARA) and other demonstrators gathered outside the House of Representatives (DPR) building.
Central Jakarta Police Chief Kombes Pol Reynold E. P. Hutagalung said the deployment aims to ensure public safety while protecting citizens’ constitutional right to express their opinions.
He instructed officers to remain professional, avoid provocation, and refrain from carrying firearms or sharp weapons during the operation. Police will prioritize a humanistic and persuasive approach throughout the demonstrations.
Authorities also urged protesters to maintain order and avoid actions that could disrupt public safety. Meanwhile, traffic diversions will be implemented as needed, depending on conditions around the protest sites.
Motorists traveling through Central Jakarta are advised to use alternative routes if congestion occurs. Police said security personnel will remain on duty until all demonstrations conclude to ensure the situation stays safe and orderly.
