Jakarta, ThedailyID — Pati Regent and former House of Representatives member Sudewo has been charged with accepting gratuities worth Rp2.505 billion, including cash, a traditional keris, and road repairs near his residence.
Prosecutors from the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) read the indictment during a hearing at the Semarang Corruption Court on Monday.
The prosecution alleged that Sudewo received the benefits while serving on Commission V of the House of Representatives, which oversees infrastructure and transportation affairs.
According to prosecutors, Sudewo received Rp2.14 billion in cash from Nur Widayat between 2021 and 2022. He also allegedly accepted a Nogososro keris valued at Rp15 million from the same individual.
In addition, prosecutors accused Sudewo of receiving Rp200 million from Bernard Hasibuan, a commitment-making official at the Class I Railway Engineering Center in Semarang.
Meanwhile, another allegation involves road improvement work worth Rp150 million in front of Sudewo’s residence. Prosecutors said Dheky Martin provided the project in 2022.
The KPK argued that the total value of the cash and gifts reached Rp2.505 billion. Prosecutors also noted that Sudewo never reported the gratuities to the anti-corruption agency within the legally required 30-day period.
As a result, the prosecution considers the gratuities to be bribes linked to Sudewo’s position as a lawmaker.
The indictment states that the alleged benefits violated several regulations, including provisions under Indonesia’s anti-corruption law, the House ethics code, and laws governing state officials.
Commission V served as one of the House’s key oversight bodies during Sudewo’s tenure. The commission worked closely with ministries and agencies responsible for transportation, public works, and infrastructure development.
Sudewo now faces charges under Article 12B of Indonesia’s Anti-Corruption Law. The court will continue examining the case in upcoming hearings.
