Jakarta, ThedailyID — Bogor Police will implement a one-way traffic system along the Puncak route during the Islamic New Year holiday on Tuesday as authorities prepare for a surge in tourist traffic.
Bogor Traffic Police Operations Chief, First Inspector Ardian Novianto, said officers expect vehicle volumes to resemble those seen during other national holidays.
“As with previous public holidays, we anticipate a significant increase in traffic heading to Puncak,” Ardian said on Monday.
Police will deploy 96 traffic officers along the Puncak corridor to monitor conditions and manage vehicle flow throughout the holiday period.
Authorities plan to apply the same traffic management pattern used during weekends and national holidays. In the morning, officers will prioritize traffic heading toward Puncak. Later in the day, they will reverse the system to accommodate vehicles traveling back toward Jakarta.
Meanwhile, police will begin monitoring traffic conditions from Monday night. Ardian said traffic volumes typically start increasing on the eve of a public holiday.
The exact timing and duration of the one-way scheme will depend on real-time traffic conditions. Officers will use vehicle counts and congestion levels as key indicators before activating the system.
According to Ardian, authorities may start the one-way arrangement earlier if traffic volume exceeds 2,000 vehicles at the Ciawi toll exit by 6 a.m.
Conversely, officers may delay the traffic engineering measures if vehicle volumes remain relatively low. Police said they will adjust the schedule based on traffic conditions throughout the day.
The Puncak route remains one of West Java’s busiest tourist destinations during long weekends and public holidays. Consequently, authorities regularly implement traffic control measures to reduce congestion and improve safety.
