Jakarta, ThedailyID — Amnesty International has accused Israel of accelerating a campaign of forced displacement against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank. The allegation appears in a new 150-page report released on Wednesday. The report focuses on Bedouin and herding communities living in Area C.
Area C covers more than 60 percent of the West Bank. Under the Oslo Accords, Israel maintains full security and civilian control over the area.
Amnesty Secretary General Agnes Callamard said Israeli authorities have intensified efforts to remove Palestinian communities over the past three and a half years.
“Over the past three and a half years, Israeli authorities have accelerated a state-sponsored ethnic cleansing campaign in the West Bank, uprooting, confiscating and forcibly relocating Palestinian communities,” Callamard said.
According to Amnesty, at least 117 Palestinian communities faced full or partial displacement between January 2023 and April 2026. Most belonged to Bedouin and herding groups.
The organization cited United Nations data in its report. The figures show that at least 5,910 Palestinians had fled their homes by April 2026.
Amnesty blamed settlement expansion, land seizures, home demolitions, and settler violence for the growing displacement. The group said those conditions have pushed many Palestinians to leave their communities.
Meanwhile, the report highlighted a sharp increase in settlement activity across the West Bank.
Amnesty recorded 363 settlement outposts in the territory. Many of those outposts emerged after 2023.
In addition, authorities demolished 3,407 Palestinian homes and structures between 2023 and 2026, according to the report.
Amnesty also alleged that Israeli policies increasingly support the formal annexation of Area C. The organization pointed to political backing, financial support, and administrative changes that favor settlements.
Callamard criticized the international community for its response. She argued that many governments have failed to take stronger action against alleged violations of international law.
“The international community has been complicit or too passive,” she said.
Israel did not immediately respond to the report’s main allegations. However, Amnesty noted that Israel’s Defense Ministry said security forces had acted against settler violence and were investigating failures to intervene.
To compile the report, Amnesty researchers visited 27 communities. They also interviewed dozens of Palestinians and reviewed hundreds of photos and videos.
Meanwhile, Amnesty International UK urged the British government to ban trade linked to Israeli settlements. The organization also called for broader sanctions.
Kerry Moscogiuri, chief executive of Amnesty International UK, said continued trade with settlements sends the wrong message. She argued that it encourages further expansion in the West Bank.
The report adds to growing international scrutiny of conditions in the occupied territory. Tensions have continued to rise alongside the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
