Jakarta, ThedailyID — Paul McCartney believes Taylor Swift has reached a level of global fame comparable to The Beatles during the height of Beatlemania.
McCartney shared the comment during an interview on BBC Radio 2. The music legend reflected on today’s biggest pop stars and the scale of modern celebrity culture.
“You do see the parallel,” McCartney said. He pointed to the worldwide fame Swift has built and compared it to the attention The Beatles received in their peak years.
The 83-year-old musician said Swift does not need advice on handling success. However, he added that he would gladly offer guidance if she ever asked for it.
McCartney jokingly described himself as a “grandad” figure to today’s generation of artists. He also praised several younger stars, including Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Sabrina Carpenter.
According to McCartney, he recently met many of those artists at a gathering hosted by his wife and daughter. He described them as talented, professional, and enjoyable to talk with.
His comments quickly attracted attention online because comparisons between Swift and The Beatles often spark debate among music fans. Many supporters viewed the statement as one of the strongest endorsements Swift has received from a music icon.
Swift continues to dominate the global music industry through record-breaking tours, streaming numbers, and chart performances. Last year, she also surpassed a major Beatles chart record by placing more songs simultaneously in a global top 10 ranking.
Meanwhile, McCartney remains one of the most influential figures in music history. His comparison highlights how Swift’s popularity has grown into a cultural phenomenon that reaches audiences across multiple generations.
