Jakarta, ThedailyID — Fans witnessed a major wave of 2000s nostalgia at the American Music Awards 2026 after Fergie officially reunited with Black Eyed Peas on stage for the first time in nearly a decade.
Fergie returned alongside will.i.am, Taboo, and apl.de.ap after the group won the Best Throwback Song award with their 2010 hit “Rock That Body.” The song managed to beat “Iris” by Goo Goo Dolls and “What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes in the category.
During their acceptance speech, Fergie thanked fans for helping “Rock That Body” become viral again through TikTok and Instagram. The emotional moment became even sweeter after she gave a special shoutout to her son, Axl, while standing on stage beside her former bandmates.
“Hi Axl! ‘Rock That Body,’ we did it!” Fergie said, drawing loud cheers from the audience.
The reunion instantly became one of the biggest highlights of the night as longtime fans celebrated the group’s return across social media. Many viewers described the moment as a “full childhood comeback” because Black Eyed Peas dominated global pop culture throughout the 2000s and early 2010s.
Meanwhile, The Pussycat Dolls also brought another nostalgic moment to the AMAs stage with a special reunion performance.
Twenty years after making their AMAs debut, the group returned as a newly reunited trio and delivered a high-energy medley performance featuring “Buttons,” “When I Grow Up,” “Club Song,” and “Don’t Cha.” The performance became even more memorable after Busta Rhymes made a surprise appearance on stage.
Both reunion performances quickly dominated conversations online as clips spread rapidly across TikTok, Instagram, and X shortly after the ceremony ended.
The strong reaction also highlighted the lasting popularity of 2000s pop culture and the emotional connection many fans still have with artists from that era.
