Jakarta, ThedailyID — Sun Life Indonesia celebrated its 31st anniversary in Indonesia by launching the Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival 2026 at SMA 21 Jakarta on Friday, May 23, 2026.
The festival continued Sun Life’s long-term commitment to promoting healthier and more active lifestyles among Indonesian youth through basketball and community programs.
As part of this year’s initiative, Sun Life Indonesia renovated basketball courts at five senior high schools across Jakarta. The company said the program aims to improve access to safer and more comfortable sports facilities for students and school communities.
In addition, the festival combined sports, wellness, entertainment, and financial education through various activities. The event featured a 3×3 basketball challenge, a 5×5 inter-school tournament, coaching clinics, basketball games with Rico Lubis and friends, entertainment performances, financial literacy sessions, and employee volunteering programs.
President Director of Sun Life Indonesia, Albertus Wiroyo, said the company believes financial security and healthy living are closely connected.
“Through Hoops + Health Youth Basketball Festival, Sun Life wants to create a space where young people can grow actively, confidently, and healthily while preparing for a better future,” he said.
The Hoops + Health program first launched in Indonesia in 2023 as part of a regional initiative between Sun Life and Beyond Sport across Asia.
Following earlier community court revitalization projects and basketball equipment donations, Sun Life expanded the program this year through school court renovations in Jakarta.
Meanwhile, representative of Beyond Sport, Fred Fikouhi-Turner, highlighted basketball’s role in building stronger communities and encouraging positive social impact.
