Jakarta, ThedailyID — Bank Syariah Indonesia involved hundreds of MSMEs in producing official batik uniforms for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims in the 1447 Hijriah pilgrimage season.
Most of the batik artisans came from Pekalongan, one of Indonesia’s major batik production centers.
The collaboration not only supports the production of official Hajj uniforms but also boosts local economic activity and strengthens the national batik industry.
Batik entrepreneur Ahmat Failasuf, who received the mandate to produce this year’s Hajj batik, expressed pride over the opportunity given to local artisans.
“We are grateful and proud to receive trust from the government and Bank Syariah Indonesia to produce official batik uniforms for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims,” Ahmat said.
He explained that nearly three decades of experience in the batik industry helped his team carry out the responsibility.
“We have worked in the batik industry for 29 years. God willing, we are ready to carry out this responsibility as best as possible,” he added.
BSI Director of Retail Banking Kemas Erwan Husainy stated that the involvement of MSMEs aligned with the bank’s commitment to helping small businesses grow and compete.
According to him, BSI consistently supports MSMEs through mentoring programs, entrepreneurship training, halal certification assistance, and international business matching opportunities.
The bank also recorded MSME financing worth Rp53.37 trillion as of March 2026.
BSI continues strengthening its MSME ecosystem through initiatives such as business assistance programs, training sessions, BSI UMKM Center services, and halal certification support for partner businesses.
The collaboration between the government, batik artisans, and Islamic banking institutions aims to strengthen Indonesia’s MSME competitiveness while introducing Indonesian batik to wider global markets.
Going forward, BSI said it will continue supporting the government’s economic growth agenda through retail financing and MSME empowerment programs.
