Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Netzme Kreasi Indonesia has joined the rollout of cross-border QRIS between Indonesia and China, aiming to expand global payment access for users and small businesses.
The company acts as one of the first payment service providers (PJP) involved in the integration, which allows Indonesian users to transact at merchants in China while enabling local businesses to accept payments from Chinese tourists.
The initiative supports collaboration between Bank Indonesia and the People’s Bank of China to strengthen cross-border payment connectivity and encourage local currency transactions.
Through its platforms, Netzme enables two main transaction flows. Users can make payments in China using the Netzme Pay app, while merchants in Indonesia can accept payments from Chinese users via Alipay and UnionPay through Toko Netzme.
CEO Vicky G. Saputra said the integration serves as more than just a payment feature. He said it provides infrastructure that allows MSMEs to reach global customers, especially travelers from China.
The rollout comes as QRIS adoption continues to expand rapidly. Bank Indonesia recorded 44 million merchants and 61.7 million users as of the first quarter of 2026, with most users coming from the MSME sector.
Cross-border transactions have also grown. Inbound QRIS transactions reached 2.79 million transactions worth Rp713.59 billion, while outbound transactions totaled 737,647 transactions worth Rp249.26 billion.
Netzme plans to expand implementation further, with the official launch of Indonesia-China QRIS scheduled in Shanghai in June 2026. The company said it will continue aligning with regulatory developments and ecosystem readiness to scale adoption.
To support merchant participation, Netzme introduced a program titled “QRIS Soundbox Goes Global.” Selected merchants will receive an educational trip to China to experience cross-border payment systems firsthand, with travel and accommodation covered by the company.
