Jakarta, ThedailyID — Apple has introduced HomeView, a new smart home hub designed to give families personalized access to connected devices and services. Announced on Tuesday, October 13, the device features a 7-inch display, AI-powered Siri, and controls for compatible smart home products.
“Apple HomeView is designed to be shared by the entire family while providing a personal experience for each user,” Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Greg Joswiak said in a statement.
HomeView features a 7-inch Liquid Retina display with True Tone technology. Its brightness ranges from 0.3 to 500 nits, allowing the screen to adjust to different lighting conditions.
The device comes in two designs. Users can place one version on a desk or bedside table, while another mounts directly on a wall.
Powered by Apple’s A18 chip, HomeView also uses Secure Exclaves technology to protect sensitive information related to its camera, microphone, and user data. In addition, it can recognize up to six people and display personalized content for each user.
For example, the home screen, widgets, and other content can change depending on who stands in front of the device. Users can also control compatible lights, thermostats, curtains, and smart locks through voice commands or the touchscreen.
HomeView also supports home security monitoring. With compatible cameras, it can display up to nine camera feeds simultaneously. Furthermore, with compatible cameras and an iCloud+ subscription, users can receive notifications about people, pets, vehicles, and delivered packages.
The device also integrates Apple’s everyday apps, including Messages, FaceTime, Calendar, Reminders, and Find My. Its FaceTime camera features Center Stage, which keeps users in the frame as they move during calls.
Beyond home controls, HomeView supports entertainment services such as Apple Music, Apple Podcasts, and Apple TV, along with third-party apps. Its audio system combines two full-range drivers, a woofer, and passive radiators to deliver Spatial Audio.
Siri is another key feature. Apple says its AI-powered assistant can understand follow-up questions, provide information across different topics, and help complete tasks using personal context.
However, the device’s features and availability may vary depending on compatible hardware, software, and subscriptions. Apple has also emphasized protections designed to safeguard users’ personal information.
HomeView comes in Pink, Silver, Starlight, Rose Pink, and Space Gray. The wall-mounted version is available in Silver and Space Gray.
Apple plans to sell HomeView in the United States, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Singapore, and South Africa. The company has not specified an Indonesian launch date in the information provided.
