Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s Ministry of Trade has partnered with Lazada Indonesia and business accelerator Lampu.id to help micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) strengthen their digital capabilities ahead of major online shopping events, including National Online Shopping Day (Harbolnas).
The collaboration took place through the “KOLABORAKSI #2” initiative, organized by the Ministry’s Directorate of Electronic Commerce and Services Trade (PMSEPJ). The program aims to help local businesses improve credibility, operational efficiency, and competitiveness in Indonesia’s growing e-commerce market.
PMSEPJ Director Dwinanto Rumpoko stressed that business readiness involves more than simply establishing an online presence. According to him, legal compliance and technological capabilities are essential for building consumer trust and supporting sustainable growth.
“Strengthening legality and technological capacity is not merely administrative compliance, but a long-term investment to build consumer trust and strengthen the business’s own competitiveness,” Dwinanto said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry continues to monitor and supervise digital commerce while coordinating with industry stakeholders. These efforts aim to maintain a safe, fair, and competitive e-commerce ecosystem in line with Trade Minister Regulation No. 19 of 2026.
Lazada Indonesia also highlighted the connection between legal compliance and digital literacy. The company believes both factors can help sellers expand their market reach and build sustainable businesses.
“As a platform connecting millions of consumers with brands and sellers, Lazada Indonesia sees that legal and digital readiness are vital factors in building consumer trust while supporting business sustainability in the Indonesian market,” said Yovan Sudarma, Head of Government Affairs at Lazada Indonesia.
More than 200 entrepreneurs attended the forum and received practical guidance on using artificial intelligence (AI) to improve product visibility and streamline business operations. The sessions also emphasized responsible technology adoption and business ethics.
AI practitioner and educator Azhar Suardi explained that small businesses can use AI to better understand their target markets and identify consumer characteristics.
“AI can be used as a tool to map consumer characteristics in a given market,” Azhar said. He also urged entrepreneurs to adopt the technology wisely and responsibly.
Through this cross-sector collaboration, the Ministry of Trade, Lazada Indonesia, and Lampu.id aim to bridge the gap between regulatory requirements and everyday business practices. The initiative also seeks to help Indonesian products build credibility and remain competitive as digital commerce continues to evolve.
