Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) and BPJS Kesehatan have strengthened their partnership to improve payment services and support a more integrated healthcare ecosystem. The collaboration aims to simplify transactions, improve operational efficiency, and explore new business opportunities in Indonesia’s healthcare sector.
The partnership includes optimizing National Health Insurance (JKN) premium payments and providing payroll services for BPJS Kesehatan employees. It also reflects BSI’s efforts to expand the role of Islamic banking in public services and financial inclusion.
BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the partnership would combine the bank’s financial capabilities, service network, and digital technology to support healthcare institutions and the public.
“Banking plays an important role in sustaining public services through convenient transactions, efficient financial management, and integrated banking solutions. Together with BPJS Kesehatan, we aim to create benefits for the public while supporting institutional operations and developing a sustainable healthcare ecosystem,” Anggoro said.
One immediate benefit is the ability to pay JKN premiums through BSI’s BYOND mobile banking application. The digital service allows participants to pay their contributions without visiting a bank branch.
BSI will also support payroll services for BPJS Kesehatan employees. Furthermore, both institutions see opportunities to expand cooperation through business-to-business services, financial transaction management, and banking integration for hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
The proposed expansion could include cash flow management and financing solutions for infrastructure development, facility modernization, and increased healthcare capacity. Any financing arrangements would depend on institutional needs and applicable regulations.
“We see opportunities for this partnership to grow alongside the changing needs of healthcare services. BSI is ready to explore financial management and financing solutions that can strengthen institutional capacity and support healthcare facility development,” Anggoro added.
The partnership builds on existing cooperation between the two institutions. BSI already provides cash management system services to support liquidity management, as well as collection services for JKN premium payments from individual participants and businesses.
Meanwhile, BPJS Kesehatan President Director Prihati Pujowaskito said the partnership should make premium payments more accessible, convenient, and secure.
“We hope this cooperation will expand access to JKN premium payment channels, making them easier and safer to use while reaching more participants. Convenient payments are important for improving payment compliance, maintaining active membership, and ensuring continued health protection,” Prihati said on Monday, October 12.
He added that banking partnerships can strengthen premium collection and financial governance within the JKN program. Better cash flow management can also support more effective, transparent, and accountable financial operations.
Beyond banking services, BSI also supports efforts to expand public access to health protection. Through partnerships with several regional governments, the bank contributes to healthcare assistance and regional development programs, including efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage by expanding BPJS Kesehatan membership for people in need.
BSI said it would continue developing cross-sector partnerships that deliver public benefits and support national development. Anggoro emphasized that business growth should go hand in hand with social value, with Islamic banking helping strengthen public services and build a more inclusive healthcare ecosystem.
