Jakarta, ThedailyID — US President Donald Trump has condemned the deadly attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, that reportedly killed 12 people and injured more than 300 others.
According to Al Jazeera, Trump described the incident as “horrible” on Saturday, October 10. He also indicated that Washington could consider joining Saudi Arabia in launching strikes against Yemen’s Houthi movement and potentially resuming attacks on Iran.
“The Saudis are great fighters, but I think the attack was a horrible thing,” Trump said on Saturday, October
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio also confirmed that an American citizen was among those killed in the attack.
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) reported that 12 people died, including eight foreign nationals. The victims included two Bangladeshi citizens and one citizen each from the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan.
More than 300 people were reportedly injured, with several suffering serious wounds and remaining in critical condition. The injured were receiving treatment at hospitals near the airport.
The attack forced authorities to temporarily suspend airport operations while officials assessed the damage and determined the full extent of the casualties.
Trump’s remarks raise the possibility of a wider military response as tensions involving Saudi Arabia, the Houthis, and Iran continue to escalate. However, the statement does not confirm that Washington has made a final decision to launch new strikes.
