Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) will keep its deposit guarantee rates unchanged from October 1, 2026, to January 31, 2027.
The decision came during the LPS Board of Commissioners meeting on September 28, 2026. The rates remain at 3.75% for rupiah deposits at commercial banks and 6.25% for rupiah deposits at rural banks.
For foreign currency deposits at commercial banks, the rate stays at 2%.
LPS considered several factors before keeping the rates unchanged. These include limited changes in bank deposit rates, positive banking intermediation, and stable liquidity.
LPS also noted that deposit guarantee coverage remains high. Based on these conditions, the agency considers the current rates adequate.
The policy aims to maintain public confidence in banks. It also supports financial system stability.
LPS will review the rates regularly. The agency will monitor global and domestic economic conditions, monetary and fiscal policies, and banking liquidity.
It will also monitor developments in bank deposit rates.
Banking intermediation continued to grow in August 2026. Third-party funds increased 10.94% year-on-year.
Meanwhile, bank lending grew 13.66% year-on-year. LPS said these figures show that banking intermediation continues to support the national economy.
Stable liquidity, profitability, and bank capital also supported the sector. These factors helped maintain banking resilience.
Deposit guarantee coverage also remained high in August 2026. Commercial banks had 706.75 million accounts with balances of up to Rp2 billion.
These accounts represented 99.94% of all commercial bank accounts. Their deposits therefore fell within the LPS guarantee limit.
At rural banks and Islamic rural banks, 15.59 million accounts had balances of up to Rp2 billion. These accounts represented 99.97% of all accounts in the segment.
LPS will continue to monitor guarantee coverage. The agency will also track market deposit rates and changes in third-party funds.
LPS reminded customers that it guarantees deposits of up to Rp2 billion per customer per bank. Customers must meet three requirements, known as the 3T criteria.
First, the bank must record the deposit in its books. Second, the interest rate must not exceed the applicable LPS guarantee rate.
Third, customers must not take actions that harm the bank. This includes fraud that causes losses or threatens the bank’s operations.
LPS also urged customers to check the deposit rates offered by banks. Banks, meanwhile, should clearly disclose the applicable guarantee rate through their communication channels.
The disclosure should include digital channels. LPS said this step supports transparency and customer protection.
