Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s women’s takraw team won a bronze medal at the 2026 Asian Games after defeating host Japan on Friday, September 25.
The match took place at Nagoya City Mizuho Park Gymnasium. Indonesia started strongly and maintained an aggressive style throughout the contest.
In the first game, Indonesia won the opening set 15-11. The trio of Sari Dini, Lestari Fujy, and Yuliana then secured the second set 15-9.
Indonesia continued its strong performance in the second game. Rachmadi Wan, Perdhana Avyvonne, and Kusnelia took control from the start.
The Indonesian trio won the first set 15-5. Japan put up a stronger fight in the second set, but Indonesia eventually closed it out 15-12.
The victory secured Indonesia’s bronze medal in the women’s team event. It also became Indonesia’s 16th bronze medal and 21st medal overall at the 2026 Asian Games.
Indonesia reached the bronze-medal match after losing to South Korea in the semifinals. Despite missing out on the final, the team secured another podium finish for the country.
Indonesia had already won bronze in the men’s team event. The men’s team earned its medal after losing 1-2 to Malaysia in the semifinals.
As a result, Indonesia’s men’s and women’s takraw teams both finished with bronze medals. The women’s team also matched its bronze-medal achievement from the 2022 Asian Games.
