Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia remains 20th in the 2026 Asian Games medal standings despite adding another bronze medal from badminton.
Indonesia’s women’s badminton team secured bronze after losing 0-3 to China in the semifinal. The result ended Indonesia’s hopes of reaching the final.
Putri Kusuma Wardani lost to Wang Zhi Yi in the opening match. Rachel Allesya Rose and Febi Setianingrum then lost to Liu Sheng Shu and Tan Ning.
Mutiara Ayu Puspitasari lost to Chen Yu Fei in the deciding match. As a result, Indonesia settled for the bronze medal.
The medal marks Indonesia’s eighth bronze at the 2026 Asian Games. Previously, teqball, soft tennis, and mixed martial arts each contributed one bronze.
Karate and wushu have also contributed two bronze medals each. Indonesia’s only silver medal came from Sumaya in the women’s individual teqball event.
As of Wednesday, September 23, at 10:51 a.m. WIB, Indonesia had one silver and eight bronze medals. The country had yet to win a gold medal.
China continued to lead the standings with 36 gold, 13 silver, and nine bronze medals. Japan followed with 11 gold, 17 silver, and 20 bronze.
South Korea and Kazakhstan were third and fourth, respectively. Both countries had six gold medals, while Thailand ranked fifth with four gold medals.
Indonesia therefore remained in 20th place with a total of nine medals.
