Jakarta, ThedailyID — Five students were injured in a shooting at a high school in Turkey’s Manisa province on Tuesday, September 22.
Local media reported that one of the injured students was in critical condition. All five victims were students at the school.
The shooting occurred at around 8 a.m. local time in Turgutlu District. The attacker reportedly opened fire at students arriving at the school.
Medical teams and security forces quickly arrived at the scene after the incident.
Authorities are still investigating the shooting. They have not yet determined the attacker’s motive.
The incident comes after several other school shootings in Turkey this year.
In April, a 14-year-old opened fire inside two classrooms at a school in Kahramanmaras. The attack killed nine people, including students and teachers, and injured 13 others.
Police later shot and killed the attacker.
A day earlier, 16 people were injured after a former student opened fire at a high school in Sanliurfa province. The attacker later died by suicide.
