Jakarta, ThedailyID — President Prabowo Subianto said his second year in office could be an appropriate moment to consider another reshuffle of the Red and White Cabinet.
Prabowo said two years was enough time for cabinet members to demonstrate their capabilities. He made the remarks during the Presiden Prabowo Menjawab program on Friday, September 18, 2026.
“I think that is logical. Two years gives each person enough time to prove their capabilities, and so on,” Prabowo said, Friday, September 18.
Prabowo was responding to a question about whether the approach of his second year in office could become the right moment for a cabinet reshuffle.
He said he continuously evaluates the performance of his ministers and other officials. At the same time, he said his team had performed well in several areas.
Prabowo pointed to food self-sufficiency as one example. He said the government initially set a four-year target, but the Agriculture Ministry achieved the target within one year.
However, Prabowo said several factors could lead to a reshuffle if one takes place. He said changes could include promoting officials or moving people to positions that better match their capabilities.
“If there is a reshuffle, among other reasons, it could be to promote people. In an organization, we must always find the right man in the right place, based on competence,” Prabowo said.
He added that the government could also replace officials when they were not suitable for their positions.
Prabowo has made several cabinet changes since taking office in October 2024. Most recently, he replaced Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa on September 14, 2026.
Suahasil Nazara, who previously served as deputy finance minister, took over the Finance Ministry. The official presidential website recorded Suahasil’s inauguration under Prabowo on September 14.
Prabowo’s latest remarks indicate that further cabinet changes remain a possibility as his administration enters its second year. However, he did not announce specific ministers who would be replaced.
