Jakarta, ThedailyID — Several European giants are reportedly competing to sign Manchester United wonderkid JJ Gabriel, who is only 15 years old.
According to The New York Times, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have shown interest in the young winger. Manchester City and Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring his situation.
The interest comes after Gabriel expressed his desire to leave Manchester United on Tuesday, September 15, 2026. The decision reportedly surprised the club, which does not understand why the teenager wants to leave.
ESPN reported that Gabriel’s request has reached Manchester United’s management. The club had also planned to include him in the squad for the Carabao Cup third-round match against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Wednesday, September 16.
Gabriel has already made his senior debut for United during pre-season. He also scored a hat-trick on his UEFA Youth League debut.
Manchester United still believe the situation can be resolved. Gabriel remains registered with the club until the end of the 2026/27 season in May 2027. His registration status also cannot be cancelled, according to the report.
The teenager has drawn comparisons with young stars such as Kylian Mbappe and Lamine Yamal. In May 2026, Gabriel was named Premier League U-18 Player of the Season while playing for United’s youth side.
He has also scored two goals for Manchester United U-21 in the Premier League 2 this season.
