Jakarta, ThedailyID — Saudi Arabia issued brief security warnings across seven cities on Monday and Tuesday, September 14–15, following a Houthi drone and ballistic missile attack.
The attack reportedly injured 13 people. It also destroyed seven homes and two vehicles, according to the report.
Saudi Arabia has vowed to respond to the attack. The Saudi-led coalition and Yemen’s government said the coalition would take firm action to protect the Kingdom’s sovereignty.
“[The coalition] will deal with the attack firmly to protect the sovereignty of the Kingdom,” the Saudi coalition and Yemeni government said, according to AFP on Tuesday, September 15.
The warnings did not last long. However, authorities urged residents to seek shelter and follow official safety instructions.
On Monday, September 14, authorities issued warnings in Najran, Khamis Mushait, Jazan and Abha.
The warnings continued on Tuesday in Jeddah, Mecca and Taif.
Saudi authorities did not specify the nature of the potential threat. Instead, Civil Defense officials advised residents to avoid open areas, windows, balconies and rooftops.
People outside were also urged to enter the nearest building or take shelter behind a sturdy barrier, according to Anadolu Agency.
The warnings came as Saudi Arabia and the Houthis continued exchanging attacks. Both sides have targeted infrastructure, including airports and weapons storage facilities.
The conflict also unfolds amid broader tensions involving the United States and Iran, particularly around the Strait of Hormuz.
The Houthis are widely described as an Iran-backed militia. However, Tehran has denied involvement in the group’s attacks on Saudi Arabia.
