Jakarta, ThedailyID — Yemen’s Houthi political bureau has accused Israel of continuing killings in Gaza and violating the ceasefire.
The Houthis also claimed that the actions receive direct support from the United States and political protection from countries involved in the Board of Peace.
The statement followed reports that Mohammed Abdulsalam al-Yazouri, a Hamas commander in the Khan Younis Brigade and member of the Qassam Brigades, had been killed in an Israeli strike in Gaza.
According to Al Jazeera, the Houthis said the killing would not weaken Palestinian armed groups. They also called for continued support for the Palestinian cause.
Furthermore, the group urged a stronger response against what it described as Israeli violations of Muslim holy sites. The Houthis specifically mentioned the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
The statement came amid rising tensions along the Saudi Arabia-Yemen border. Jazan, which borders Yemen, has faced repeated projectile and drone attacks from Houthi-controlled territory in recent years.
Saudi authorities have repeatedly said attacks targeting civilian areas violate international law.
Meanwhile, the Houthis also criticized the Board of Peace (BoP), an international forum established in January 2026 by US President Donald Trump.
The forum aims to address and resolve global conflicts, including the conflict in Palestine. It has 22 member countries, including the United States, Israel, Turkey, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Argentina and Indonesia.
However, the Board of Peace has faced controversy since its creation. Critics have questioned its broad mandate, high membership fees and potential overlap with the United Nations.
Trump’s role as the forum’s chair without a fixed term has also drawn scrutiny.
UN Humanitarian Coordinator Tom Fletcher has said the Board of Peace will not replace the United Nations. Still, critics argue that the new forum could divide attention and weaken established global diplomatic efforts.
The Houthis’ latest statement adds to the growing regional tensions surrounding Gaza and the fragile ceasefire.
