Jakarta, ThedailyID — Jakarta International Container Terminal (JICT) marked Indonesia’s Independence Day with a celebration highlighting the role of its employees in keeping the country’s economy and logistics sector moving.
JICT President Director Hartono said the company’s daily activities, from serving ships to moving containers, support industries, trade and people’s needs across Indonesia.
“What we do may seem like everyday activities, such as serving ships, moving containers, and ensuring smooth operations. But behind all that, there are industries that must continue to produce, trade that must keep running, and people’s needs that must be met,” Hartono said, as quoted from the company’s statement, (24/08).
Hartono said the spirit of independence also reflects how employees embrace their roles and carry out their responsibilities. He emphasized that working toward a shared goal can contribute to Indonesia’s progress.
The message was brought to life through “81 Seconds of Pride – We Move Indonesia.” During the 81-second session, hundreds of participants reflected on their daily contributions before raising the Red and White flag and chanting, “We Move Indonesia!”
The celebration also featured a Merdeka Parade, a “We Move Together” flash mob, executive and employee challenges, and a workspace decoration competition.
JICT’s extended family also observed a moment of silence to express sympathy and pray for communities affected by the recent earthquake in East Nusa Tenggara.
JICT President Commissioner W.S. Wiryawan highlighted unity, responsibility and collaboration as important values in carrying out the company’s mandate.
“The spirit of independence is manifested in the collaboration and integrity of every individual. What we do today does not only determine the future of JICT, but also plays a part in keeping Indonesia moving,” Wiryawan said, as quoted from the company’s statement, (24/08).
