Jakarta, ThedailyID — Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi is scheduled to visit Jakarta from August 20 to 22, 2026, for talks aimed at strengthening China-Indonesia relations.
During the visit, Wang will meet Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono to discuss the two countries’ comprehensive strategic partnership.
One of the main events will be the first Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue (CSD) between Indonesia and China on August 21. Sugiono and Wang will jointly chair the ministerial-level meeting.
The CSD was established during Sugiono’s visit to Beijing in April 2025. The forum is designed to review bilateral cooperation and establish strategic priorities for the two countries going forward.
On the same day, Indonesia’s Foreign Ministry will also host the second Indonesia-China 2+2 Dialogue Mechanism.
The meeting will bring together the foreign and defense ministers of both countries to discuss political, defense and security cooperation, including issues at the regional and global levels.
The two meetings are expected to serve as key platforms for Jakarta and Beijing to deepen their comprehensive strategic partnership.
Wang’s visit comes as Indonesia and China continue to expand cooperation across multiple areas while maintaining regular high-level diplomatic dialogue.
