Jakarta, ThedailyID — Police are investigating the discovery of nearly 1,000 weapons, suspected narcotics, and adult materials inside a private school in Pondok Pinang, South Jakarta, as authorities seek to determine ownership and whether any laws were violated.
According to Antara, the school’s legal representative, Hermawanto, said staff uncovered the items after opening several rooms that were being prepared for student and teacher activities.
“On July 10 and 11, nearly a month ago, we found 995 weapons. They included firearms, ammunition, and several firearm accessories,” Hermawanto said.
He added that staff opened another room on the evening of August 5 for teachers’ use and found additional items, including suspected narcotics and pornographic CDs.
The findings prompted an investigation by the South Jakarta Metro Police, which is examining the origin of the items and identifying those responsible for storing them.
Meanwhile, Alhadid Endar Putra, legal counsel for former school foundation chairman IWD, denied that all of the seized items belonged to his client.
He said some of the items were airsoft guns and spare parts that had been legally acquired for a planned shooting and archery extracurricular program launched in 2021.
According to Alhadid, the program aimed to prepare students for competitions, including Indonesia’s National Sports Week (PON) and the Southeast Asia Shooting Association (SEASA). He said the initiative ended after the death of its founder, retired General Suryo.
Alhadid also denied that the items were stored in a room controlled by the former foundation chairman. He said another party had taken control of the storage area since April 2026, leaving his client without access.
He further denied ownership of the other items found at the school, including 215 pistols, four 4.5 mm rifles, suspected narcotics, and pornographic CDs.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
