Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT XLSMART Telecom Sejahtera Tbk strengthened its ESG commitment through sustainable waste management at the Ultraverse Festival, held in Jakarta, Surabaya, and Denpasar. The three-city event attracted around 25,000 attendees.
During the festival, the company diverted 1,754 kilograms of waste from landfills and reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 6,600 kilograms of CO₂e. The emissions cut equals roughly 700,000 smartphone charges or a 33,000–40,000 kilometer gasoline car journey.
The event also marked the launch of XL Ultra 5G+. However, XLSMART positioned the concert as more than a product launch. The company used it to demonstrate measurable ESG implementation in large-scale events.
Director & Chief Regulatory Officer Merza Fachys said ESG principles guide every business initiative. He stressed that sustainability must be structured and replicable. According to him, ESG serves as an operational foundation rather than an additional campaign.
To support that goal, XLSMART applied structured waste systems across all locations. The Jakarta event adopted a Zero Waste to Landfill model with Waste4Change. Meanwhile, Surabaya focused on reducing waste at the source and strengthening recycling efforts. The Denpasar program prioritized food waste processing through a partnership between ATLAS and Z Bio.
Z Bio converted sorted food waste into animal feed and organic fertilizer for local farmers. The approach reflects circular economy practices within the event ecosystem.
Large music concerts can generate up to 12,500 kilograms of waste. XLSMART said early planning and source separation helped reduce environmental impact.
The company began similar efforts previously. During AXIS Nation Cup 2025, it collected 4,200 kilograms of waste.
Through the Ultraverse Festival, XLSMART reinforces its position as a sustainability-driven telecom operator in Indonesia.
