BSI pursued the certification to support secure and ethical financial services. The bank responds to rising data usage and AI-driven banking decisions. The certification confirms BSI’s readiness to handle complex digital transformation challenges. The bank governs the full data lifecycle under strict internal controls. It manages data from collection and processing to storage and deletion with measurable safeguards.

The framework ensures analytics systems and AI development remain ethical and prudent. It reduces misuse risks, prevents unintended bias, and protects decision integrity. BSI views innovation as more than efficiency and service speed. The bank treats digital transformation as a long-term trust strategy.

Director of Compliance & Human Capital Arief Adhi Sanjaya said BSI became a first mover in implementing ISO 27701:2019. The certification took effect on December 16, 2025. He stressed that trust remains irreplaceable in the AI and data analytics era. Technology must strengthen accountability and protect customer rights.

Beyond regulatory compliance, the certification reinforces sustainable corporate governance. It responds to rising public expectations for transparency and digital ethics. BSI positions data protection as central to reputation and stakeholder trust, including customers, regulators, investors, and global partners.

BSI currently serves more than 23 million customers nationwide. With this certification, the bank aims to expand services while sustaining growth through strong governance and public confidence.
