France Reach World Cup Semifinals Without Conceding a Knockout Goal

Jakarta, ThedailyID — France booked their place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup semifinals after defeating Morocco 2-0. The victory also extended Les Bleus’ flawless defensive record in the knockout stage.

Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele scored as France comfortably ended Morocco’s impressive tournament run in the quarterfinals.

The clean sheet marked France’s third straight shutout in the knockout rounds. Didier Deschamps’ side has yet to concede a goal in the elimination stage.

France began the knockout phase with a dominant 3-0 victory over Sweden. They then edged Paraguay 1-0 in the Round of 16 before overcoming Morocco.

Across those three matches, France scored six goals without conceding once.

Their defensive record reflects more than a disciplined back line led by William Saliba. France have also controlled possession and limited opponents’ chances throughout the knockout rounds.

Next, France will face another major challenge in the semifinals. They will meet either Spain or Belgium.

Spain also boast an outstanding defensive record. They remain the only other team yet to concede a goal before the quarterfinals, with goalkeeper Unai Simón keeping a perfect clean-sheet record.

Belgium, meanwhile, have grown stronger as the tournament has progressed. Their recent performances suggest they could pose a serious threat in the semifinals.

Spain and Belgium will meet in their quarterfinal clash on Saturday, July 11 (WIB).
