Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s benchmark Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) surged 141.45 points, or 2.46%, to 5,886 at the close of Friday’s first trading session, July 3, as broad-based buying lifted most listed shares despite continued foreign net selling.
According to RTI Business data, the index opened at 5,806 and maintained its upward momentum throughout the morning session. The IHSG traded between an intraday low of 5,805 and a high of 5,899.
Market breadth remained firmly positive. A total of 508 stocks advanced, while 128 declined and 139 finished unchanged. As a result, the Indonesia Stock Exchange’s market capitalization reached approximately Rp10,330.98 trillion.
Trading activity also stayed strong. Investors exchanged 11.61 billion shares worth Rp6.42 trillion across 846,917 transactions during the session.
Foreign investors, however, continued to record net selling. They posted Rp237.87 billion in net sales across all markets. In the regular market, foreign investors sold a net Rp322.69 billion. Meanwhile, they recorded Rp84.82 billion in net purchases in the negotiated and cash markets.
Domestic investors continued to dominate trading activity. They accounted for 74.45% of the day’s trading volume, or roughly 15.7 billion shares. In comparison, foreign investors contributed 25.55%, equivalent to around 5 billion shares.
Based on transaction value, domestic investors recorded Rp6.7 trillion in purchases and Rp6.5 trillion in sales. Foreign investors, meanwhile, bought Rp4.5 trillion worth of shares and sold Rp4.7 trillion.
Trading frequency reached 1,516,778 transactions. Domestic investors generated nearly 80% of all trades, while foreign investors accounted for the remaining 20.49%.
Despite persistent foreign outflows, strong domestic participation helped sustain the market’s rally through the morning session.
