Strava Among 25 Digital Platforms Facing Possible Block in Indonesia

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has warned 25 private Electronic System Operators (PSEs) that they could lose access to the Indonesian market if they fail to complete mandatory registration. Fitness tracking platform Strava is one of the foreign services on the list.

The ministry said the group includes 15 foreign and 10 domestic operators. Together, they run 57 websites and mobile applications. Komdigi gave the companies until July 3, 2026, to complete the registration process.

Director of Electronic Certification and Transaction Supervision Teguh Afriyadi said Komdigi had already sent official notification letters to all 25 operators. He urged them to complete their registration before the deadline.

“If operators fail to register by the deadline, we will take action under existing regulations, including warning letters and access blocking,” Teguh said.

Indonesia requires every domestic and foreign private electronic system operator to register under Minister of Communication and Informatics Regulation No. 5 of 2020. The rule applies to digital platforms that provide services to Indonesian users.

The companies that have yet to complete their registration are:

  1. Accor S.A.
  2. ANA Holdings Inc.
  3. Archipelago International Indonesia
  4. Aryaduta Hotels Group
  5. Banyan Tree Holdings Limited
  6. Barceló Hotel Group
  7. Best Western International, Inc.
  8. Design Hotels GmbH
  9. DMM.com LLC
  10. Ennismore Holdings Limited
  11. Hotel Indonesia Group (HIG)
  12. Kodland PTE. Ltd.
  13. PT Ayo Indonesia Maju
  14. PT Clarindotama Perdana

  21. Stimulver Pvt. Ltd.
  22. Strava Inc.
  23. Tauzia Hotel Management

Meanwhile, Komdigi invited companies facing technical problems to contact the ministry. Operators can explain the issue by email and attach supporting evidence, including screenshots.

In addition, Komdigi urged other digital platforms that meet the registration criteria to register immediately instead of waiting for a warning letter.

Teguh said the registration system helps Indonesia build a safer and more accountable digital ecosystem. It also allows the government to enforce national regulations while improving protection for digital service users.
