Jakarta, ThedailyID — Tech company Clicks has unveiled the Clicks Communicator, a new Android smartphone that revives the iconic BlackBerry-style physical keyboard while offering modern smartphone features.
The device targets users who spend much of their time sending emails and text messages. It combines a touchscreen with a full QWERTY keyboard, aiming to deliver a more productive typing experience.
Clicks first introduced the Communicator during CES 2026. Now, the company has revealed the phone in greater detail through a demonstration video published on YouTube.
The smartphone features a 4-inch OLED display and runs Android 16. It also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microSD card slot, two features that have become increasingly rare on modern smartphones.
Although Clicks markets the device as a secondary phone, it includes hardware comparable to many mainstream Android models.
The Communicator comes with a 50MP rear camera and a 24MP front-facing camera. It also supports NFC, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi connectivity.
Meanwhile, the phone packs a 4,000mAh battery, providing enough capacity for daily use.
During the product demonstration, Clicks Vice President Jeff Gadway showcased the device’s interface, which uses Niagara Launcher. The launcher lets users navigate apps and menus using the physical keyboard instead of relying solely on touch controls.
Additionally, Gadway demonstrated phone calls and app switching directly from the keyboard.
The company also highlighted several unique hardware features. These include a fingerprint sensor integrated into the space bar and a barometric pressure sensor.
Another standout feature is Signal Light, a customizable notification light located on the side of the device.
Users can assign different colors to specific contacts or apps. They can also disable notifications from selected sources by preventing the light from activating.
Clicks plans to launch the Communicator in selected markets during the fourth quarter of 2026.
The smartphone will carry a starting price of US$499, or approximately Rp8.95 million.
With its physical keyboard and modern Android software, the Clicks Communicator aims to appeal to users seeking a nostalgic BlackBerry experience without sacrificing today’s smartphone capabilities.
