Jakarta, ThedailyID — PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) has completed a major information technology (IT) transformation designed to strengthen its digital banking platform and support long-term business growth.
The year-long initiative marks one of BSI’s biggest technology projects since its establishment. The bank carried out the transformation under the strategic guidance and supervision of Danantara, ensuring the implementation followed strong governance and risk management standards.
BSI President Director Anggoro Eko Cahyo said the upgrade reflects the growing demand for digital financial services as the bank continues expanding its customer base.
“BSI now stands alongside Indonesia’s largest banks. Customers expect the same level of service and technology, and we are committed to meeting those expectations,” Anggoro said.
The transformation also supports BSI’s ambition to become one of the world’s top five Islamic banks and reach 40 million customers by 2030.
Meanwhile, BSI has continued to expand through its dual banking licenses as both an Islamic bank and a bullion bank. According to the company, the bullion banking business has opened access to new customer segments that were previously underserved.
As a result, the bank’s customer base surpassed 24 million as of April 2026. Growth accelerated after BSI obtained its bullion banking license in February 2025 and changed its corporate status to a state-owned enterprise in early 2026.
A key milestone was the successful migration of BSI’s core banking platform from R10 to R24, completed in mid-May 2026. Around 1,500 employees from multiple divisions participated in the project.
Furthermore, BSI conducted several rehearsal phases before the migration. The Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Danantara also monitored the process to ensure a secure and transparent implementation.
According to BSI, the new platform has improved operational efficiency by around 80 percent. It also speeds up the Close of Business (COB) process and significantly expands system capacity for future digital services.
Additionally, BSI reported system availability across all digital channels of 99.99 percent. The bank said less than 10 percent of its current technology capacity has been utilized, leaving significant room for product innovation and customer growth.
To capitalize on the new infrastructure, BSI continues to strengthen BYOND by BSI for retail customers and BEWIZE by BSI for corporate and wholesale clients.
As of May 2026, more than 10 million users had adopted BSI’s mobile banking platform. The application processed transactions worth over Rp450 trillion. Meanwhile, BEWIZE also continued recording steady growth in users and transaction volumes.
Anggoro said the completed technology transformation, combined with Danantara’s support, would help BSI expand its role in Indonesia’s Islamic finance ecosystem.
Finally, the bank’s financial performance remained solid during the transition. Through May 2026, BSI posted unaudited net profit of Rp3.39 trillion, up 16.73 percent year-on-year. Total assets reached Rp444 trillion, while third-party funds stood at Rp372 trillion and financing totaled Rp335 trillion.
