Jakarta, ThedailyID — Former Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla has requested a meeting with President Prabowo Subianto, according to Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
Teddy said Kalla submitted the request several days ago. President Prabowo subsequently agreed to receive him at the State Palace.
“Mr. Jusuf Kalla requested time to meet President Prabowo a few days ago,” Teddy said on Thursday.
According to Teddy, Kalla will attend the meeting alongside his son. However, the government has not disclosed the specific agenda.
Teddy emphasized that Prabowo continues to maintain communication with senior national figures and business leaders. As a result, the president regularly meets individuals from different political and professional backgrounds.
He added that the administration views such meetings as an important way to strengthen national unity and encourage collaboration on strategic issues.
The planned meeting has attracted public attention because Kalla remains one of Indonesia’s most influential political figures. Throughout his career, he served as vice president under both President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and President Joko Widodo.
In addition, Kalla has played a significant role in various peace negotiations and diplomatic initiatives. He also remains active in discussions concerning national development, governance, and economic affairs.
Prabowo and Kalla recently met during the commemoration of Pancasila Day in Jakarta. During the event, both leaders joined several prominent national figures and briefly exchanged views.
The upcoming meeting is expected to further strengthen communication between the government and senior statesmen as Indonesia navigates various economic and political challenges.
