Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesian women’s doubles pair Rachel Allessya Rose and Febi Setianingrum advanced to the semifinals of the Indonesia Open 2026 after a comeback victory on Friday.
The duo defeated fellow Indonesians Febriana Dwipuji Kusuma and Meilysa Trias Puspitasari in an all-Indonesian quarterfinal at Istora Senayan.
Rachel and Febi struggled in the opening game. Their opponents dominated from the start and cruised to a convincing 21-8 victory.
However, Rachel and Febi responded strongly in the second game. They improved their defense and controlled key rallies to level the match with a 21-15 win.
The momentum remained on their side in the decider. Rachel and Febi continued to apply pressure and secured a comfortable 21-11 victory to book a place in the semifinals.
The result keeps Indonesia’s hopes alive in the women’s doubles competition. It also marks one of the pair’s biggest achievements at a major home tournament.
Meanwhile, another Indonesian women’s doubles pair failed to progress.
Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti saw their campaign end in the quarterfinals after losing to Japan’s Yuki Fukushima and Mayu Matsumoto.
Tiwi and Fadia started brightly and dominated the opening game. The Indonesian pair built a large lead before securing a 21-13 victory.
However, the Japanese duo bounced back in the second game. Fukushima and Matsumoto controlled the tempo and won 21-12 to force a deciding game.
They maintained their momentum in the third game and quickly established a commanding lead. Tiwi and Fadia struggled to recover and eventually lost 21-13.
As a result, Rachel and Febi remain Indonesia’s lone representatives in the women’s doubles semifinals.
Home fans at Istora Senayan will now hope the pair can continue their impressive run and challenge for the Indonesia Open title.
