Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s Attorney General’s Office (Kejagung) has named former National Nutrition Agency (BGN) chief Dadan Hindayana and two former deputy chiefs as suspects in an alleged corruption case involving procurement projects at the agency.
The two former deputies are Lodewyk Pusung and Sony Sonjaya. Investigators announced the suspect designation on Wednesday after questioning the three former officials.
The case centers on several procurement projects carried out by BGN. Investigators are examining the purchase of electric motorcycles, shoes, and other operational equipment linked to the agency.
Kejagung investigators also searched BGN headquarters in Central Jakarta earlier on Wednesday. The operation lasted for hours as authorities collected documents and other evidence.
Following the investigation, prosecutors detained Dadan and Lodewyk. Meanwhile, Sony was still undergoing examination when authorities announced the latest development.
Prosecutors suspect irregularities in procurement activities connected to the implementation of programs under BGN.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the total state losses linked to the case. However, investigators said the probe remains ongoing and could expand as new evidence emerges.
The corruption investigation comes just one day after President Prabowo Subianto replaced Dadan, Lodewyk, and Sony from their leadership positions at BGN following a government evaluation.
The leadership shake-up drew public attention because it coincided with increasing scrutiny of BGN programs and procurement activities.
Kejagung said investigators will continue examining witnesses and reviewing evidence to determine the full scope of the alleged corruption scheme.
