Jakarta, ThedailyID — Adrian Fernandez opened the 2026 Italian Grand Prix weekend with the fastest lap during Free Practice 1 of the Moto3 Italian Grand Prix 2026 at Mugello Circuit on Friday (29/5).
The rider from Leopard Racing clocked a best time of 2 minutes 09.930 seconds and finished ahead of the rest of the Moto3 field during the opening session in Scarperia.
Joel Esteban secured second place after staying close to Fernandez throughout the session. Meanwhile, Maximo Quiles completed the top three positions.
Brian Uriarte finished fourth, while Cormac Buchanan rounded out the top five riders in FP1.
The session also featured drama involving Malaysian rider Hakim Danish. The AEON Credit-MT Helmets MSI rider crashed around six minutes before the session ended but still managed to secure eighth position overall.
On the other hand, Indonesian rider Veda Ega Pratama finished the opening practice session in 20th place. Veda posted a fastest lap time of 2 minutes 12.954 seconds during his runs at Mugello.
Despite finishing outside the top positions, Veda continued collecting important experience at one of the most demanding circuits on the Moto3 calendar. Mugello is widely known for its fast straights, sweeping corners, and technical elevation changes that challenge young riders throughout the weekend.
The Indonesian racer continues adapting to the pace of international Moto3 competition while aiming to improve his lap times ahead of qualifying and race day.
Moto3 riders will return to the track for the next practice session as teams continue refining bike setup and race pace for the Italian Grand Prix weekend.
