Jakarta, ThedailyID — Vladimir Putin and Xi Jinping jointly criticized former US President Donald Trump over plans to develop a large-scale anti-missile defense system known as the “Golden Dome.”
According to a joint statement released after bilateral talks in Beijing, Russia and China warned that the project could increase global military tensions and disrupt strategic stability.
The two leaders argued that expanding advanced missile defense systems risks triggering a new arms race between major powers.
They also accused the United States of pursuing unilateral military dominance through large-scale defense projects.
The “Golden Dome” proposal reportedly aims to strengthen US missile interception capabilities against long-range threats, including ballistic and hypersonic missiles.
Moscow and Beijing claimed the project could weaken existing nuclear deterrence balances between global powers.
The criticism came as relations between the United States, Russia, and China remain tense over conflicts in Ukraine, Taiwan, and broader geopolitical competition.
Russia and China have recently expanded military and economic cooperation amid growing pressure from Western countries.
Analysts said the joint criticism highlights increasing alignment between Moscow and Beijing in opposing US strategic and defense policies.
The statement also renewed concerns over the possibility of escalating global defense competition in the coming years.
