East Jakarta Man Allegedly Kidnapped and Assaulted Over Unpaid Motorcycle Installments

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Police arrested two suspects after a 29-year-old man was allegedly kidnapped, confined, and assaulted inside a motorcycle showroom in East Jakarta over unpaid installment payments for a Honda PCX motorcycle.

Authorities identified the victim as Rizky Nur Aldriansyah. Meanwhile, police identified the suspects by their initials, AB and R.

The case came to light after the victim’s parents filed a report through the “Bang Resmob” WhatsApp hotline on Thursday, May 14.

“We immediately went to the location after receiving the report and found the victim being confined on the second floor,” said Kombes Arsya Khadafi from the Criminal Investigation Agency’s Resmob unit.

Police officers later rescued the victim and detained the two suspects at the scene.

Investigators said the incident began after the victim reportedly fell behind on motorcycle installment payments for two months.

According to police, the victim purchased the motorcycle for around Rp30 million through a payment scheme with the showroom.

Authorities explained that the victim needed to pay monthly installments worth Rp1.67 million. However, after missing payments for two months, the unpaid amount reportedly reached Rp3.34 million.

Police alleged that the suspects forcibly took the victim and confined him inside the showroom for two days because of the debt dispute.

Authorities also confirmed that the victim experienced physical assault during the confinement period.

“He was confined for two days, and yes, the victim was assaulted during that time,” Arsya stated.

During the operation, police confiscated three mobile phones belonging to the suspects along with a written statement document as evidence.

Investigators have since transferred the victim, suspects, and evidence to Cakung Police Sector for further legal proceedings.

Police charged the suspects under several articles of Indonesia’s new Criminal Code related to kidnapping, unlawful confinement, and violence.

The case has sparked renewed public discussion regarding illegal debt collection methods and consumer protection in Indonesia.
