Jakarta, ThedailyID — Former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has gained international attention after joining the Advisory Board of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), a strategic Saudi government institution overseeing Riyadh’s urban transformation.
Anies shared the information through his official X account while attending the Riyadh Competitiveness Forum (RCF) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In his statement, Anies revealed that he had received the mandate to serve as an advisory board member since last year.
During the past several days, he participated in a series of discussions with Riyadh city officials and advisory members from multiple countries. The meetings focused on strategies for modern urban development and improving global competitiveness.
“Over the last three days in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, I participated in the Riyadh Competitiveness Forum,” Anies wrote on X.
“Since last year, I have also received the mandate to serve as a member of the Advisory Board of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City,” he added.
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City is a high-level Saudi government institution directly chaired by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.
The commission holds a major role in transforming Riyadh into one of the world’s top ten city economies by 2030 as part of Saudi Arabia’s broader modernization agenda.
During the forum, Anies attended discussions together with Karsa City Lab regarding sustainable urban development strategies.
One of the main topics highlighted during the event involved Jakarta’s integrated public transportation transformation over recent years. Observers noted that Jakarta’s transportation integration and public mobility reforms attracted international interest.
During his tenure as governor, Anies oversaw several urban projects focused on pedestrian access, public spaces, and transportation connectivity across Jakarta.
The development also reflected increasing international collaboration in urban planning and sustainable city management between countries in the region.
