4 Key Takeaways From Trump and Xi Jinping’s Meeting in Beijing

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Donald Trump met Xi Jinping in Beijing on Thursday amid rising geopolitical and economic tensions between the United States and China.

The meeting drew global attention because both leaders discussed several strategic issues, including trade relations, Taiwan, technology, and regional security.

Here are four major points from the high-profile meeting:

1. Trade Relations Remain a Priority

Trump and Xi reportedly discussed efforts to stabilize trade ties after years of tariff disputes and supply chain tensions.

China pushed for more stable economic cooperation. Meanwhile, Trump emphasized protecting US industries and reducing dependency on Chinese manufacturing.

2. Taiwan Issue Returned to the Spotlight

Taiwan became one of the meeting’s most sensitive topics.

Xi Jinping reportedly reaffirmed China’s stance that Taiwan remains part of its territory. He also warned foreign countries against interfering in what Beijing considers domestic affairs.

Meanwhile, Trump stressed the importance of maintaining regional stability in the Indo-Pacific.

3. Technology and AI Competition Intensified

Both countries also discussed competition in advanced technology sectors, especially artificial intelligence and semiconductor development.

The US continues restricting exports of advanced chips and technology to China. Washington argues the policy protects national security interests.

China, however, criticized those restrictions and called them unfair trade barriers.

4. Global Security and Ukraine Discussion

The leaders also exchanged views on global conflicts, including the war in Ukraine and tensions in the Middle East.

According to reports, both sides emphasized the importance of preventing wider global instability despite ongoing disagreements on several international issues.

The meeting marked one of the most closely watched diplomatic events this year as relations between Washington and Beijing remain fragile.

Analysts believe future US-China relations could heavily influence global trade, technology development, and geopolitical stability.
