Jakarta, ThedailyID — Indonesia’s national futsal team climbed to 14th place in the latest FIFA world rankings, marking one of the country’s best achievements in international futsal.
PSSI chairman Erick Thohir praised the team’s progress and described the result as proof of Indonesia’s growing strength in futsal.
According to Erick, the achievement reflects the hard work of players, coaches, and the federation in developing the sport over recent years.
“This is a proud achievement for Indonesian futsal,” Erick said through his official social media account on Monday.
Indonesia previously ranked outside the top 20 before steadily improving through strong performances in regional and international tournaments.
The latest FIFA rankings placed Indonesia above several established futsal nations in Asia. The result also strengthened Indonesia’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s top futsal teams.
Meanwhile, the Indonesian squad recently delivered consistent performances in international competitions. The team also showed improvement in tactical play, defensive organization, and attacking efficiency.
Erick said PSSI will continue supporting the national futsal program to maintain long-term progress and improve competitiveness at the global level.
In addition, he expressed hope that the achievement could motivate younger athletes to pursue futsal professionally.
Indonesia’s rise in the rankings also sparked positive reactions from fans on social media. Many supporters praised the team’s rapid development and called for stronger investment in futsal infrastructure and youth development.
The national futsal team now targets higher achievements in upcoming Asian and international tournaments as it continues building momentum on the world stage.
