Jakarta, ThedailyID — Police in Tangerang are investigating a sexual assault case involving a teenage girl identified as D, while continuing to search for the main suspect.
Authorities from Polres Metro Tangerang Kota questioned three witnesses who were at the scene during the incident. However, investigators found no evidence linking them to the alleged assault, so they released the witnesses.
Head of Criminal Investigation Unit Parikhesit said the suspect, identified as Ivan, fled the scene and remains at large. Police believe he may have escaped toward Serang.
“Based on preliminary examination, the three witnesses did not take part in the assault or threats against the victim, so we released them as no evidence points to their involvement,” Parikhesit said.
The case gained public attention after photos and videos related to the incident spread widely on social media, including Instagram, showing parts of the timeline and individuals involved.
According to preliminary findings, the suspect allegedly lured the victim, someone he knew, under the pretext of repairing a motorcycle. She later followed the group to another location in the Cipondoh area.
At the location, the group encouraged the victim to consume alcohol. Investigators suspect they forced her to drink until she lost consciousness. When she regained awareness the next morning, she found herself without clothing.
Police also conducted a crime scene investigation and collected statements from local residents, neighborhood officials, and the suspect’s family. The suspect’s parents said they were unaware of any incident occurring at their home.
Meanwhile, the victim and her family filed an official report on April 27, 2026. The Women and Children Protection Unit confirmed it is handling the case and remains committed to ensuring justice.
Authorities continue to pursue the suspect and urge the public to provide any relevant information that may assist the investigation.
