Trump Claims Positive Talks With Iran, Signals US Escort in Hormuz

Jakarta, ThedailyID — Donald Trump claimed the United States is holding “very positive” discussions with Iran to resolve ongoing tensions between the two sides.

In addition, he said the US may begin escorting ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran has effectively restricted amid the conflict.

Speaking on Truth Social, Trump stated that negotiations could lead to a favorable outcome for all parties. He added that multiple countries have requested US assistance to safely navigate the strategic waterway.

As a result, Washington plans to guide vessels through the area to ensure safe passage. Trump described the move as a humanitarian gesture, citing concerns over ships stranded in the region with limited food and essential supplies.

Meanwhile, the statement follows a 14-point negotiation proposal submitted by Iran. The proposal reportedly focuses on ending hostilities, while the US has responded through diplomatic channels using Pakistan as a mediator.

Since the conflict began, Iran has tightened control over the Strait of Hormuz, disrupting a key global route for oil, gas, and fertilizer shipments. In response, the US has imposed countermeasures targeting Iranian ports.

According to maritime intelligence firm AXSMarine, more than 900 commercial vessels remained in the Gulf region as of April 29. However, the number has declined from over 1,100 ships earlier in the conflict.

The situation highlights growing global concern over supply chain disruptions, as the Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most critical energy transit routes.
